Schools Netball Tours Barbados
Our School Netball Tours to Barbados offer a choice of 7, 10 or 14 night itineraries which are available depending on your desire or time of year. We recommend 3 games in a 7 day period and 5-6 in a 10 day period and will provide plenty of interaction with local people and activities in Barbados for you in between match days.
Netball was introduced to the West Indies in the late 40’s by the English. The Barbados Netball Association is thriving with 37 clubs and 2 leagues. The Barbados Secondary School League runs 22 school teams with competitions for under 15 and under 19 year old students.
Games are played at the National Stadium and many schools including Lodge, Deighton Griffith, Foundation and Alleynes which have their own courts.
Waterford Netball Stadium is due to be refurbished soon. This facility houses 3 courts and seats 1000 spectators. There is also the opportunity to play at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium which is an indoor facility and it is here that the AFNA World qualifiers were held in 2006. There is a further opportunity to play in all or one of the 11 parishes of the island.
The Barbados Development Netball Squad is a team much in demand to play against. Their agility, skill and pace is very impressive and although it will be a challenge, it will probably be your most fulfilling game. You will find the opposition in mist cases to be strong willed, quick of the mark and very energetic with unbelievable tactics so be prepared to be outsmarted. They always play to win and always as a team.
