Sir Garry Sobers Championship
Named after the renowned Barbadian cricketer and national hero Sir Garry Sobers, this annual tournament held in Barbados will be in its twentieth season. It attracts school teams under nineteen years of age to compete with their local, regional and international counterparts.
Many a member of current international cricket teams received great exposure and instruction from their participation in this event – you could be the next one! The tournament takes place throughout the month of July and games are played at various venues throughout the island.
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of nine cricket matches, but if you are on a winning streak and progress well in the tournament then this would increase to eleven in total.
SIR GARFIELD SOBERS - An international cricket celebrity and a national hero in Barbados. He rose to become the Captain of the West Indies team and has been widely regarded as the greatest all round cricketer of all time. Knighted in recognition of his outstanding contribution to international cricket, Sir Garry spends his time as a great ambassador for his sport and Barbados.

Gresham's School has just returned from its sixth visit to Barbados to participate in the Sir Gary Sobers International Schools Cricket Festival.
The three weeks in Barbados were absolutely brilliant, combining really good, competitive cricket with relaxation on the wonderful beaches and clear, warm blue Caribbean Sea with friendly bars and many varied restaurants and night spots in the evenings. Our hotel, the Amaryllis, with its own beautiful beach was absolutely perfect, and all the arrangements regarding transport, umpires etc, went very smoothly. This is the most perfect sporting holiday was the quote of many of the touring party.
We would like to thank Sporting Getaways for their friendly and efficient service and smooth organisation prior to the festival.
