Antigua & Barbuda International Masters
We would like to invite you to participate in the Antigua & Barbuda International Masters 20/20 Cricket Tournament to be held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from Wednesday 17th – Sunday 21st November 2010.
It has been a couple of years since the last Masters Cricket Tournament was held in Antigua and having worked together on numerous projects Richie Rich Sports & Leisure and Indigo Event Services have decided to join forces and stage this annual event. The Festival will include an international Masters 20/20 tournament and two exhibition 20/20 matches featuring Lashings World Xl and the Antigua National Team, the very popular Wadadli Cats Party Cruise, a Gala dinner and presentation ceremony and other exciting activities.
With endorsement from the Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Tourism; Ministry of Sport; and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority it is our plan that the Festival will go from strength to strength each year, increasing Sports Tourism on the island. In addition, we are also seeking sponsorship from the private sector both on and off the island. We are having discussions with all the teams who played in the previous Masters Tournaments and it is hoped that the England Over 45’s, Bermuda Masters, Dubai Masters, Ontario Canada Masters, New York Masters, Nevis Masters Cricket Club, Caribbean Cricket Club of Florida, St. Croix Sports Club and Antigua Masters Cricket Club together with Ye Olde Colonials will be among those taking part.
As mentioned earlier, Lashings World Xl, which consist of all international players, have agreed to join us and in addition to playing the exhibition matches, they will be doing some coaching with our young players here on the island – this is a terrific opportunity for our developing players and something that will add a different facet to the Festival. To make it more fun for everyone, we would love the overseas teams to bring their friends and families, and are in the process of organising some excellent hotel rates. We are also looking to organise a few tours, including the ever popular Wadadli Cats Fun Cruise, to make sure that they have some fun and get to explore the island!
There is a one off registration fee of $450US per club payable no later than 1st June 2010 and this includes the following:
- Group transportation from VC Bird International Airport to your hotel (visitors)
- Group transportation to and from your hotel to the grounds (visitors)
- Group transportation to and from your hotel to official functions (visitors)
- Lunch and refreshments on match days for players (on a cash basis for others)
- Wadadli Fun Cruise
- Welcome Reception
- Gala Dinner – A Night with the Stars
- Fest Gift Bag and T shirt (players only)
Please note that:
- Clubs are to provide their own coloured uniform.
- Players must be 45 years of age and over. However, each team will be permitted to have a maximum of 4 players between the ages of 40 and 45 playing in a match.
- Players who have played 1st class cricket in the last 10 years are exempt from playing.
- There will be a captains briefing with the umpires prior to the start of the tournament.
- Visitors are responsible for their own travel arrangements to Antigua and hotel bills.
- Apart from trophies, we intend to have prize monies for the winners and runners-up of US$2,000 and US$1,000 if we can raise the funds.
